New regulations have nothing to do with electric bicycles

The reporter learned that related misreadings originated from the “Technical Conditions for the Operational Safety of Motor Vehicles” (GB7258) formally implemented on September 1st, which redefines electric mopeds. The interpretation is “speeds over 20 kilometers per hour and 50 kilometers per hour”. The following "electrically-driven two- or three-wheeled vehicles" are "involved" in the previously controversial electric bicycles. As a result, some media have inferred that “electric vehicles with speeds above 20 kilometers and below 50 kilometers” will be managed in accordance with motor vehicles. Therefore, they need to be on the cards first, and the drivers must also take driver's licenses and buy insurance.

In fact, the "relationship" between electric bicycles and motor vehicles has long been inconclusive. New national standard for electric bicycles will be released
