Daqing improves reforming prehydrogenation catalyst

As of March 17, the "DZF-1 reforming pre-hydrogenation catalyst" developed by Daqing Chemical Research Center has been continuously operating on the reforming pre-hydrogenation unit at Daqing Petrochemical Refinery for over seven months. The performance evaluation results show that compared to the first-generation DZ-1 catalyst, the new DZF-1 significantly reduces the reaction temperature by more than 5°C. Additionally, the sulfur and nitrogen content in the hydrogenated products are both below the specified targets. This indicates that the catalyst fully meets the operational requirements of the unit and has reached a domestic advanced level. The reformer plays a vital role in producing high-grade clean gasoline. The reforming pre-hydrogenation catalyst is essential for removing impurities such as sulfur, nitrogen, chlorine, and arsenic from the feedstock, preventing the poisoning of the reforming catalyst. It ensures stable operation of the reformer and extends the lifespan of the precious metal catalysts used in the process. Since 2002, Daqing Chemical Research Center has been dedicated to the development of this type of catalyst. By employing advanced modification techniques and preparation methods, they have optimized the surface chemistry of the support material, reduced the interaction between the support and active components, improved the distribution of active species, and ultimately enhanced the hydrodesulfurization and hydrogenation performance. After seven months of continuous operation, the test results demonstrated that when using straight-run naphtha as feedstock, the sulfur content was reduced from 216 g/g to just 0.5 g/g. The processing capacity, reaction temperature, nitrogen content, and bromine value all met the required standards. The DZF-1 catalyst shows excellent adaptability and can address various challenges, such as shortages in reforming feedstocks or ethylene cracking raw materials, and help improve the quality of catalytic gasoline. By increasing the processing volume or blending catalytic gasoline, it supports the optimization of integrated refining and chemical industry structures, offering a practical solution for modern refining operations.

Plate Flange

The Flat Face Flange has a gasket surface in the same plane as the bolting circle face. Applications using flat face flanges are frequently those in which the mating flange or flanged fitting is made from a casting.

Flat face flanges are never to be bolted to a Raised Face Flange. ASME B31.1 says that when connecting flat face cast iron flanges to carbon steel flanges, the raised face on the carbon Steel Flange must be removed, and that a full face gasket is required. This is to keep the thin, bittle cast iron flange from being sprung into the gap caused by the raised face of the carbon steel flange.
