Hey everyone,
This is Eric Haak here. I wanted to share some details about a fire I responded to earlier today. It happened around 1:30 PM on Saturday in Chicago's 23rd Battalion area. The fire broke out on the second floor of a vacant two-flat building located on South Constance Avenue, near the 7200 block. The structure measured about 25 by 40 feet.
The firefighting efforts involved Engine 126 and Truck 49, along with Engine 72 and Tower Ladder 34. Truck 16 and Battalion 17 were designated as Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT). Getting good shots of the rigs was challenging because of the narrow streets and dense tree coverage. Despite these obstacles, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control relatively quickly, but there was still quite a bit of overhaul work needed afterward. The entire operation kept the crews on-site for just over an hour.
One interesting note: Engine 126 used old Engine 56 as a backup vehicle during the incident.
I've attached some photos taken at the scene. These images capture different angles of the fire and the response efforts. Please note that all the photos are credited to me, Eric Haak.

Hope everyone stays safe out there!
Best,
Eric
