With Liaoning Province starting to sell the No. 97 ethanol gas for vehicles since August 1, the three northeastern provinces have achieved full-scale closed promotion and use of ethanol gas for vehicles. Currently, the total sales volume of ethanol gas has reached 4,246,600 tons. On October 11th, the National Development and Reform Commission presided over the report meeting of pilot trials for ethanol gasoline in the three provinces of Northeast China in Jilin City, summarizing and promoting pilot work experience.
The Ministry of Finance, Jilin, Liaoning, and Heilongjiang provinces and development commissions, the economic and trade committee, and the relevant person in charge of PetroChina attended the meeting. At the meeting, the director of the Office of Promotion of Ethanol Gasoline for Vehicles in the Three Northeast Provinces reported on the promotion of the use of ethanol gasoline. According to reports, the promotion of the use of ethanol gasoline in Jilin Province has created “three firsts” in China: the first to establish a legal basis for the promotion of ethanol gasoline by formulating and implementing government regulations; on November 18, 2003, the first was successful. The use of ethanol gasoline is closed and promoted in provincial administrative jurisdictions; the first is to cover the entire market of ethanol gasoline. As of the end of September this year, ethanol gasoline sales in Jilin Province reached 1.38 million tons, and the average market coverage this year reached 98.2%. Liaoning Province has made rapid progress in its trials in Tieling and Huludao since June last year. As of the end of September this year, cumulative sales of ethanol gasoline were 1,734,600 tons, and the average market coverage rate was 90%. Since Heilongjiang Province closed its promotion of the use of ethanol gasoline for vehicles since November 1st last year, the total sales of ethanol gasoline was 1.15 million tons as of the end of September this year, and the market coverage rate was over 95%.
Xiong Bilin, deputy director of the Industry Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, requested ethanol and gasoline production enterprises in the three northeastern provinces to grasp the diversification of raw materials and research and development work, and to reduce costs by all means to ensure the healthy development of the fuel ethanol industry.
