The second initiative centers on next-generation process industry technologies and equipment, aiming to improve efficiency in deep processing, energy conversion, and waste recycling. Key areas include petroleum refining, petrochemicals, coal chemical, and building materials industries. This involves the development of large-scale steam cracking ethylene units, complete sets of equipment for producing ethylene and propylene from heavy oil feedstocks, along with large cracking furnaces and compressors. Additionally, it covers coal gasification and liquefaction systems, methanol and dimethyl ether synthesis plants, and advanced carbonization chambers for coke ovens. In the building materials sector, new dry-process clinker technology and eco-friendly, energy-efficient material manufacturing equipment are being prioritized.
In parallel, Shandong is actively promoting the innovation of supporting technologies for large-scale chemical equipment. This includes the development of clean power generation solutions such as environmentally friendly power generation systems, clean coal combustion technologies, combined cycle gas turbines, and coal gasification polygeneration systems. Large-scale circulating fluidized bed boiler technology and air-to-ground cold-heated motor systems are also under development.
In the field of ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission and transformation equipment, the focus is on AC transmission systems above 750kV and DC systems above 500kV. This includes super-capacity transformers, UHV thyristor-controlled devices, electronic current transformers, intelligent distribution systems, and advanced protection systems for distributed substations. UHV testing technologies and equipment are also being developed to ensure independent intellectual property rights.
Furthermore, Shandong is advancing the development of transportation equipment, including container ships, marine engineering vessels, bulk carriers, and related ancillary systems. Emphasis is placed on integrating materials, processes, and equipment, while ensuring compliance with Euro III and Euro IV emission standards. Research into new plastics machinery is also ongoing, focusing on improving precision, stability, automation, digital integration, and control systems to achieve higher performance levels.
