In order to enhance the overall technological level of industrial equipment, Shandong Province has outlined two major innovation initiatives for the chemical industry in the coming years. The first initiative focuses on marine engineering, marine chemistry, and related equipment. This will involve research and development of large-scale deep-sea oil exploration systems, advanced self-elevating offshore drilling platforms, 7,000-meter deepwater resource extraction tools, high-efficiency and cost-effective seawater desalination technologies, as well as advanced processing and comprehensive utilization of marine chemicals. The goal is to build a more sustainable and efficient marine chemical industry.
The second initiative centers around next-generation process industry technology and equipment. With the aim of achieving efficient deep processing, energy conversion, and waste recycling, the focus will be on developing advanced equipment for petroleum refining, petrochemicals, coal chemical, and building materials industries. This includes large-scale steam cracking units for ethylene production, heavy oil feedstock-based ethylene and propylene production systems, large pyrolysis furnaces, compressors, and other key petrochemical infrastructure. Additionally, coal gasification and liquefaction systems, methanol and dimethyl ether synthesis plants, and large-scale carbonization chambers and coke ovens for coal chemical processes will be developed. In the building materials sector, new dry-process clinker technology, green and energy-saving materials, and advanced glass fiber production equipment will also be prioritized.
In parallel, Shandong will actively promote the innovation of supporting technologies for large-scale chemical equipment. Research will focus on clean power generation solutions, including environmentally friendly power systems, clean coal combustion technologies, heavy-duty gas turbine combined cycle systems, coal gasification polygeneration technologies, and large-scale circulating fluidized bed boilers. Additionally, developments in air-to-ground cooling and heating motor systems will be explored.
Regarding power transmission and transformation, the province will prioritize the research and development of AC transmission systems above 750kV and DC systems above 500kV. This includes super-capacity transformers, ultra-high-voltage current control devices, electronic current transformers, intelligent distribution systems, and advanced protection systems for substations. Testing technologies for UHV equipment will also be developed to ensure the creation of independent intellectual property rights in this field.
On the transportation equipment front, Shandong will focus on container ships, marine engineering vessels, bulk carriers, and their associated equipment. The development will emphasize the integration of materials, processes, and systems, while meeting Euro III and Euro IV emission standards for engines and auxiliary components. Additionally, the province will invest in new plastic machinery, aiming to improve precision, stability, automation, digital control, and overall system integration.
