The Glenwood Fire Department responded to a second-alarm fire on Saturday morning, February 13, 2016, at a two-story multi-unit building located at 800 E. 191st Place. The call came in around 11:30 a.m., and firefighters encountered heavy flames in the cockloft that eventually spread throughout the entire structure.
According to Eric Haak, who captured several photos of the incident:
> "Here are some images of the second alarm in south suburban Glenwood. The initial alarm came in around 11:30. There was heavy fire in the cockloft which eventually consumed the entire length of the building."
The fire caused significant damage, with thick smoke visible from a distance. Multiple fire departments were dispatched, including the Glenwood Fire Department, as well as units from East Hazel Crest, Thornton, and others. The scene was chaotic, with crews working hard to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
Eric Haak provided several photographs showing the intensity of the fire, including views of the burning building, fire engines in action, and a Pierce ladder truck responding to the scene. These images give a clear sense of the scale and urgency of the situation.
Despite the efforts of the firefighters, the fire had already done considerable damage by the time it was brought under control. No injuries have been reported so far, but the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. Residents in the area were advised to stay away from the scene due to ongoing hazards.
