Shaanxi Automobile Liu Keqiang: New Energy Vehicle Development Cannot Overlook Commercial Vehicles

In recent years, the state has introduced a large number of supportive policies in the development of new energy vehicles. However, from the perspective of specific segments, new energy commercial vehicles enjoy fewer favorable conditions than passenger vehicles, especially trucks. Therefore, on this issue, at the 2015 TEDA Automotive Forum, Liu Keqiang, deputy general manager of Shaanxi Automotive Holdings Co., Ltd., called for the country's new energy vehicle development policy to tilt toward commercial vehicles.

Energy conservation can not ignore the commercial vehicles, the new energy policy for its lack of support for the development of

the meeting, Liu Keqiang respect, the state policy of support for new energy commercial vehicles shortcomings, mainly reflected in two aspects:

First of all, emphasis is placed on passenger cars while neglecting commercial vehicles.

Second, the national support policy for new energy vehicles has a relatively high starting point, and it is a step to the electric vehicle platform. However, with regard to the application of some alternative energy sources and some existing technologies at the current stage, there is insufficient attention to national policies, and this may lead to a certain gap between existing policies and China's national conditions.

In this regard, Liu Keqiang cited a series of data. He mentioned that at present, commercial vehicle production accounts for a small proportion of the national automobile production and is easily overlooked. However, from the perspective of energy conservation and emission reduction, the environmental pollution it brings is actually quite impressive.

Compared with a heavy truck and a sedan, the fuel consumption of a heavy truck is several times that of a truck. For example, the basic fuel consumption of a mechanical truck is more than 40 liters. The long-distance tractor is about 30 liters. The fuel consumption of a sedan is in accordance with national policies. To 6 liters or so. From the perspective of annual mileage, many family vehicles have mileage of 120,000 kilometers per year, but for heavy-duty trucks, the basic mileage must reach 150,000 kilometers. For long-distance logistics companies, 300,000 kilometers is even just a basic amount, and it has already begun to challenge the average mileage of 400,000 kilometers per year. Therefore, despite the relatively small amount of heavy trucks, the comprehensive pollution and emissions of a heavy truck can reach 50, 60 cars in a year.

As a result, the number of heavy-duty trucks in China is calculated at around 4 million. If the number is multiplied by 60, the figure is very impressive, and it has exceeded the existing car ownership of 140 million vehicles.

Therefore, commercial vehicles, especially heavy-duty trucks, must not be neglected in energy conservation and emission reduction. Although its volume is relatively small, the impact is very great.

Electric trucks currently do not meet the basic needs of heavy truck customers

for new energy vehicles in support of national policies is relatively high starting point of this thesis, Liu Keqiang also gives his own understanding.

He said that from a technical point of view, compared to pure electric vehicles, the closest relative to the traditional car should be alternative energy, so the state’s policy of supporting pure electric development has a long-term vision, but it is insufficient for immediate application. Especially for commercial vehicles, customers are most concerned about the cost of the vehicle.

From this perspective, electric trucks currently do not meet the needs of heavy-duty truck customers. Regardless of mileage, car purchase costs, and charging during operations, they have not found a good solution on a global scale.

Therefore, starting from the national conditions, the new energy development road for heavy trucks should be closer to the current state of technology and energy.

Natural gas heavy truck should receive more support

Based on the foregoing, Shaanxi Auto Road in commercial exploration of new energy to proceed in two ways. The first is alternative energy sources, and the second is electric vehicles.

"As we mentioned just now, especially heavy trucks, limited by the operating environment and other factors, in the current situation in China, the more appropriate technical route is to give priority to the development of natural gas." Liu Keqiang believes that, first of all, natural gas heavy trucks are at the technical level. It is feasible, and secondly, energy supply is completely feasible. Our country's natural gas this year has seen a surplus. Finally, it is estimated that a natural gas heavy truck is equivalent to the ability to plant 84 trees, and the energy saving and emission reduction effect is obvious.

However, the development of natural gas heavy trucks faces some difficulties:

The first is the cost issue. Natural gas vehicles are eight to one hundred thousand dollars more expensive than equivalent diesel vehicles. Users can come back in less than a year before the price of oil has fallen. However, due to the drastic decline in diesel prices this year, the cost advantage of natural gas vehicles has increased. Declined, sales fell.

Second, the construction of filling stations is not in place.

Therefore, Liu Keqiang suggested that when the country develops new energy vehicles, it can first attach importance to the development of new energy vehicles in the commercial vehicle industry; secondly, it should not only support electric vehicles but also support the development of natural gas vehicles. The entire process of consumption is pollution-free.
