Research and Development of Stepper Motor in China

Stepper motors, also known as pulse motors or step motors, are generally known as Step montor or Stepping motor, Pulse montor, Stepper, etc. abroad.

Recently, with the development and changes of electronic technology, control technology, and motor body, the interface between traditional motor classifications has become increasingly blurred. I think this is the inevitable trend of mechatronic components. In the case of a conventional stepper motor, the stepper motor can be simply defined as advancing a certain angle (or length) every time the excitation state is changed according to the input pulse signal, and maintaining a certain position and stationary if the excitation state is not changed. Motor. In a broad sense, a stepper motor is a pulsed signal-controlled brushless DC motor. It can also be regarded as a synchronous motor that synchronizes the speed with the control pulse frequency within a certain frequency range.

The mechanism of the stepper motor is based on the most basic electromagnet action. Its original model originated from 1830 to 1860. Attempts to control before and after 1870 were applied to the electrode delivery mechanism of argon arc lamps. This is considered to be the initial stepper motor. Since then, stepper motors have been widely used in automatic telephone exchanges. It was soon widely used in independent systems such as ships and airplanes that lacked AC power.

In the late 1960s, with the development of permanent magnet materials in the body of stepper motors, a variety of practical stepper motors came into being, and the development of semiconductor technology has promoted the application of stepper motors in many fields. In the past 30 years, stepper motors have rapidly grown and matured. In terms of development trends, stepper motors have been able to be side-by-side with DC motors, asynchronous motors, and synchronous motors, thus becoming a basic type of motor.

China's stepper motor research and manufacturing began in the late 1950s. From the late 1950s to the late 1960s, universities and research institutions were mainly used to develop or develop a small number of products for the study of some devices. These products are mainly multi-stage three-phase reactive stepper motors. In the early 1970s, there was a breakthrough in the production and research of stepper motors. In addition to the considerable progress reflected in the design of the driver, the research and design of the reactive stepper motor has developed to a higher level. From the mid-1970s to the middle 1980s, it was the development stage of finished products, and new varieties of high-performance motors were continuously developed. Since the middle of the 80's, due to a lot of research work on the precise model of the stepper motor, various hybrid stepper motors and drivers have been widely used as products.
