As June rolls around, we're reminded of the incredible strides we've made toward equality for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, but also the work that still lies ahead. At Rümi, we’re proud to announce the formation of our Pride Alliance, an initiative spearheaded by Mars Comeau, a beloved Team Lead at our Customer Care and Happiness Centre. Mars, who identifies as part of the community herself, recognized the profound need for visibility and support in the workplace. Her vision caught fire when she shared it with our leadership, who were quick to rally behind her.
The spark that ignited this movement was last year’s Pride Movie Night at the Customer Care and Happiness Centre. It was a resounding success, with team members expressing a desire to keep the spirit of Pride alive throughout the year. That enthusiasm led Mars to reach out to allies and community members within Rümi, forming the foundation of what would become the Pride Alliance—a company-wide effort to foster diversity and inclusion.
Fast forward to today, and the Pride Alliance is already making waves. Just months since its inception, we’ve seen educational resources, engaging events, and meaningful discussions taking shape. The initial meeting drew a packed room, including many leaders eager to learn how they can better support their LGBTQIA2S+ colleagues. Mars is overjoyed to see this conversation expand beyond Pride Month, with plans to integrate inclusivity into our onboarding process and broader community initiatives.
