How to Pick Your Own Car Parts at Chesterfield Auto Parts
Planning a trip to pick up car parts at Chesterfield Auto Parts? If this is your first time visiting a salvage yard, you might be curious about what to expect. As Richmond’s oldest established auto recycler, we’ve perfected the process of finding parts efficiently. With a meticulously organized yard and a team of knowledgeable staff, locating what you need is easier than you might think. Let’s guide you step-by-step through the process of picking your own parts.
Step 1: Browse Our Online Inventory
Before heading out, it’s essential to check our online inventory. Our system provides precise details about the location of the part you’re searching for. Since we operate three different locations, knowing which yard to visit is crucial. Visit our website today to search for your desired part!
Step 2: Gather Your Tools and Head Over
Once you’ve identified the right location, bring the necessary tools and head to our yard. We offer ample parking at each of our sites, but please note that we don’t permit car repairs within the premises. Upon arrival, our friendly sales associates will collect your $1 entry fee and handle your waiver. They’ll also assist you in printing vehicle location details, including row and spot numbers, if you need help finding your part. Additionally, we provide wheelbarrows at our locations to help transport your finds easily.
Step 3: Locate and Extract Your Part
Our yards are organized by vehicle type, and maps are available both in our lobbies and on our website. For example, at our Richmond location, we have a dedicated section for imported vehicles, such as Kias, Hondas, and Toyotas. Within each section, cars are arranged in numbered rows starting at #1 and labeled alphabetically. Every vehicle features a sticker indicating its row and spot, allowing you to track your progress. The vehicles are elevated on secure stands, eliminating the need for jacks—though bringing your own tools is recommended. After extracting the part, simply return to the desk to complete your transaction. Want to know more about pricing? Check out our parts price list!
Step 4: Complete Your Purchase
Back in the lobby with your part in hand, our staff will assist you with checkout. Payment options include cash or credit card. All our parts come with a complimentary 30-day warranty. If you’d like additional coverage, feel free to discuss extended warranties with our team.
