After two years of construction, the project of “Construction of National Engineering Laboratory for High-efficiency Energy-saving and Environmental-friendly Internal Combustion Engines†undertaken by Yuchai Group has been completed and passed acceptance on July 15. At this point, the highest-standard R&D platform in China's internal combustion engine industry was born in Yuchai.
The “National Engineering Laboratory for Energy-efficient and Environmental-friendly Internal Combustion Engines†is the only national-level engineering laboratory approved and awarded by the state in the internal combustion engine industry. The laboratory is based on the urgent needs of the internal combustion engine industry to develop in an efficient and low-emissions direction. It aims to improve the combustion efficiency of internal combustion engines and reduce emission levels. It has established an advanced R&D base, achievement transformation, and engineering application platform for the internal combustion engine industry.
The construction site of this project is divided into Yulin Base and Nanning Base. It is based on the existing R&D and test conditions of Yuchai. The project's total investment budget is 92.4 million yuan, all of which are used to purchase experimental equipment. There are 158 new sets of equipment in the project, which are mainly imported from Germany, Austria, Japan and other countries. After the construction, the engine test bench has been increased by more than 30 on the basis of more than 50 original Yuchai, and the number of benches ranks first among domestic counterparts. The test power section covers the micro, light, medium, and heavy-duty engines comprehensively, with simultaneous launch of the country. V, EU VI, Tier3 (the third phase emission regulations for diesel engines for non-road mobile machinery) test capabilities of the engine, and can carry out special tests of more than 16 kinds of 80 parts and components, the test ability has reached the industry-leading level.
The laboratory brought together the most outstanding academicians, experts and professors in 12 domestic and foreign automotive industries and related industries, with 665 R&D personnel. Among them, there are 28 doctors and doctors or more, 101 masters, and 336 undergraduates. They have built up an engine R&D team with strong innovation ability, reasonable age structure, and high level.
This acceptance was entrusted by the National Development and Reform Commission and was organized by the Guangxi Development and Reform Commission. The expert group consisted of 7 experts from the University of Tianjin Institute of Internal Combustion Engines, Prof. Zhi Mingfa, and Director of the Guangxi Automotive Tractor Research Institute. The fate of the fate indicates that the completion of this laboratory has established a cooperation mechanism between companies and industries, and will enhance the innovation capability of China's internal combustion engine industry in the future in a wide range of cooperation.
In the next three years, the laboratories will carry out in-depth research and development in new concept combustion systems, emission control, hybrid power, and alternative fuel combustion, and develop a series of independent, internationally advanced, highly efficient and environmentally friendly internal combustion engine products and technologies. Advanced technology has been applied to internal combustion engines and related industries, and the transformation, promotion and application of various research and development technologies have been stepped up to accelerate the pace of China's internal combustion engine technology to surpass the international advanced level.
Wu Qiwei stated that Yuchai will give full play to its laboratory R&D advantages and equipment advantages, combine its own industrial chain advantages, and further enhance the laboratory's ability to provide R&D, design, and service for internal combustion engine and component industrial clusters.
