Taiwan develops high performance flow control valve

To cope with increasingly fierce international competition, the Taiwan Metal Industry Research and Development Center is developing high-performance flow control valves to assist local industry in developing high value-added industrial valves with market potential.

The R&D target of the center is an axial flow control valve with large flow, short switching time, stable flow, and high control accuracy. At present, a testing laboratory has been established and is applying for foreign certification in order to export products in the future.

Last year, the output value of Taiwan's valve products was 9.2 billion Taiwan dollars (approximately 35 New Taiwan dollars and 1 US dollar), of which 80% were exported, and about 7.3 billion Taiwan dollars. 85% of the valve manufacturers are small and medium-sized enterprises. Most of their product R&D activities are limited to functional improvement and prolonged life. The product level is not high and the added value is low.
