Still alarm fire in Schiller Park 7-18-19

This is a report from Mike Lopina:

While driving north on I-294, I spotted a fire alert and heard traffic reports indicating a fire on or in the roof of a building. The structure at 10511 W United Parkway is a one-story non-combustible building measuring 350 by 150 feet. From the tollway, it looked like the fire could escalate to an extra alarm, but by the time I arrived (about 10 minutes later), the fire had already been extinguished.

The crews did an excellent job containing the fire to just the rooftop HVAC unit and some spread onto the roof deck. Several departments responded, including Schiller Park Engine 5, Tower Ladder 5, Ambulance 5, and Battalion 5. Additional units from Franklin Park, Leyden, Norwood Park, and other nearby stations also arrived, such as Franklin Park Truck 2, Leyden Quint 133, Norwood Park Engine 101, and Franklin Park Battalion 490.

It was impressive to see how quickly everything was under control, especially given the intense heat. The coordination and effort from all the responding units were outstanding. A big thank you to all the firefighters for their hard work and quick response.
