Shandong's agricultural capital goes from "fighting" to "checking"

In the current spring plowing, Shandong Province's agricultural capital has shifted from “fighting against fakes” to “checking off,” misleading the advertisements from specific inspections, and strictly controlling the operation barriers to crack down on counterfeit and shoddy agricultural materials.

According to statistics from the Consumers Association of Shandong Province, Shandong Province received 7,797 complaints against agricultural production materials last year, accounting for 11% of the total complaints, an increase of 16.16% over 2004. The proportion of counterfeit products in pesticides, fertilizers and other products has reached as high as 17%. Some unscrupulous agricultural traders exaggerated the publicity of agricultural products and arbitrarily expanded the scope of use. They often used the product as a certain king, high-efficiency, long-term effects, etc. to mislead farmers. The shoddy phenomenon is serious. For example, on August 13, 2005, the industry and commerce department seized a batch of compound fertilizer with a total nutrient content of 45% from a fertilizer company in Liangshan County. The total nutrients tested was only 26.78%. Some manufacturers are obviously producing complex fertilizers, but they are marked as compound fertilizers on the outer packaging; many products labeled as potassium sulfate compound fertilizers are actually chloride-based fertilizers with chlorine content as high as 30% or more.

For this reason, the focus of the "Red Shield Protecting Farmers" campaign in Shandong this year has shifted from "fighting for counterfeiting" to "checking." During the period of spring plowing this year, the industrial and commercial departments will conduct special supervision and review on the advertisement of agricultural products such as fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, veterinary drugs and feed. If there are exaggerated functions, false propaganda, misleading consumers' words, language, and pictures in the advertisement of agricultural products, the business sector will impose economic penalties in accordance with the provisions of the Advertising Law. At the same time, industry and commerce departments at all levels have conducted a thorough inventory of the agricultural materials professional markets and agricultural product distribution centers in the region, and urged the agricultural resource management units to enter and exit the company's account books. The products have clear directions of flow, clear responsibilities, and pre-sale inspections and after-sales samples left over for future reference. Agricultural resources management.
