It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hauber, a beloved member of Buffalo Grove Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 3177, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Our hearts go out to his family, especially his wife and four daughters, who were by his side during his final moments.
Kevin was a dedicated firefighter and paramedic for over two decades, serving the community of Buffalo Grove with honor and compassion. He joined the department in 1994 and quickly became known for his kindness, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to his fellow firefighters.
He was also a proud member of the Associated Firefighters of Illinois (AFFI) Honor Guard, where he served with distinction and received the 2018 Donald J. Bower Commitment to Excellence Award. Fire Chief Mike Baker remembers Kevin as a caring, positive individual who never spoke ill of anyone, even during his illness.
Kevin and his twin brother Jim were inspired by the classic show *Emergency!* and often shared how it shaped their dreams of becoming firefighters. In 2014, while undergoing chemotherapy, Kevin had the chance to meet Randy Mantooth, one of the show’s stars, and they shared a heartfelt moment that Kevin cherished deeply.
His life was a testament to service, courage, and love. We will miss him dearly.
