The electric drive system provided by the company was created by Tesla co-founder Ian Wright. The transmission system allows the electric truck to recover energy from the brakes and the built-in turbine to store energy for the truck battery.

Turbine engines use natural gas or diesel fuel and are powered by electric hybrids. Because waste trucks need to start and stop a lot of times, recovering electricity from the braking system can save a lot of fuel. Wrightspeed's transmission system can carry 29.93 tons of vehicle weight, so it is enough to pull large-capacity garbage and the truck can work efficiently.
