A vacuum truck is a tank truck equipped with a heavy-duty vacuum system designed to pneumatically load solids, liquids, sludge, or slurry through suction lines typically ranging from 2-4 inches in diameter, with 3 inches being standard. The typical pump used in the industry is the rotary vane vacuum pump. These trucks can be configured with either a direct PTO/belt or a PTO/hydraulic drive system. There are two primary methods for mounting the pump: directly on the truck using a PTO drive or on the trailer with a pony motor. Each application has unique handling characteristics.
These trucks are commonly used by municipalities and towns for street cleaning, sewer maintenance, individual septic systems, and the cleanup of contaminated soil. They are also used in the cleaning of sanitary sewer lift stations and grease interceptors required at many restaurants. All functions and load distribution are properly arranged according to the technical specifications of the chassis it is mounted on. The equipment is manufactured following serial production principles, taking into account legal regulations.
