ABB wins 5-year Prelude FLNG contract for Shell

ABB recently announced that it has received a five-year contract to provide equipment and services for Shell's giant Prelude FLNG facility on the Australian coast.
It is reported that ABB's orders include the delivery of motors, generators, variable speed drives and low-voltage switchboards, but ABB did not disclose the amount of the contract.
The Shell Prelude FLNG is currently being built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. Upon completion, it will be moored to approximately 475 kilometers northeast of Broome in Western Australia. It is 488 meters long, 74 meters wide and weighs about 600,000 tons. It will produce at least 5.3 million per year after it is put into operation. Tons of liquids, including 3.6 million tons of LNG, 1.3 million tons of condensate and 400,000 tons of LPG.
