Snowfall leads to poor logistics conditions PVC market prices are now trending higher

In recent days, there have been large-scale snowfalls in the northern regions, with small to medium snow or sleet in parts of the Northwest, Qinghai, Western Sichuan Plateau, Inner Mongolia, North China, Huanghuai and other parts of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, and Shandong. There is heavy snow or blizzard. Due to the thicker snow and ice on the road, traffic disruption and heavy traffic congestion have caused significant impact on the transportation of raw calcium carbide and PVC. In the northwestern region, the shipment of PVC products to the south was blocked, and the transportation conditions in the eastern region are still acceptable.
This week, domestic PVC market prices showed a slight upward trend. The mainstream price of calcium carbide PVC in East China was around 6550-6600 yuan/ton. Due to tight market supply, traders have a strong desire to raise prices; Getting goods is hesitant, and the high price transaction in the market is normal. In southern China, the supply of goods was relatively tight, and the sources of goods in the previous period had not yet arrived. Traders were reluctant to sell their goods, and the supply of low-priced goods in the market was significantly reduced. At present, the mainstream prices of calcium carbide materials in the South China market are around 6600-6650 yuan/ton, and some traders even quote prices of 6,700 yuan/ton. Due to the rapid price increase, it is more cautious for downstream companies to make up their positions.
Although some companies have recently stopped and overhauled, the market supply has decreased, and poor transport has also caused tighter supply in the southern market, but the overall downstream demand is still relatively low, the supply and demand contradictions are still prominent, and the transaction situation is not satisfactory. Considering that the rain and snow weather will continue to persist, the supply of calcium carbide as a raw material in some areas will remain slightly tight, and the transportation situation will hardly improve in the short term. Therefore, the PVC market outlook is not yet clear, and the resistance to price increases remains.
