North Maine Fire District updates

Larry Shapiro recently visited the North Maine Fire District to capture images of Engine 1, a 1992 Pierce Arrow that has undergone a recent restoration by Alexis Fire Apparatus. The fire department’s latest update includes a fresh look with new high-side compartments, a hydraulic ladder rack, and distinctive black and red chevron striping on the officer's side. The engine also features new top-access compartments, an extended front bumper, and a redesigned intake system, along with updated striping and a black roof. These changes reflect the district’s ongoing efforts to modernize their fleet while maintaining the legacy of their historic apparatus. A historical photo shows the original delivery of Engine 1 in 1992, marking it as the district’s second Pierce Arrow engine. Another image reveals the first Pierce Arrow engine delivered in 1985, which was later sold to Beach Park FPD in 2003. This highlights the long-standing relationship between the North Maine Fire District and Pierce engines. In addition, the district has introduced a new decal that mirrors a challenge coin they created years ago. The design incorporates the new black and gold color scheme seen on Engine 1, adding a unique touch to their apparatus. The decal is now being applied across their fleet, reinforcing their identity and pride. For more information about the North Maine Fire District’s new branding, visit their website and click on the “Company Patches” link at the top of the page. This section showcases the decal, patches, and other memorabilia related to the district’s history and evolution.
