On Saturday, September 21st, Larry Shapiro captured a series of memorable moments from the Buffalo Grove Fire Department's open house. The event offered families a unique opportunity to explore emergency vehicles, meet firefighters, and experience hands-on demonstrations.
Among the highlights was a line of eager children waiting to ride the Mundelin fire engine, while others enjoyed sliding down the fire pole or trying out a simulated rescue scenario. A young boy was seen practicing with a hand line during the junior firefighter challenge, and several kids were fascinated by the vehicle extrication demo.
The Flight For Life helicopter drew a large crowd, as visitors marveled at its size and speed. Inside the station, firefighters demonstrated live fire scenarios, showing how they respond to emergencies. Meanwhile, other children learned how to use a fire extinguisher, gaining a better understanding of fire safety.
One photo showed a group of brothers sharing a seat in a fire engine, while another captured a firefighter greeting a young visitor. The event also featured a side-by-side live fire demonstration, where a large audience watched intently as firefighters attacked a simulated room fire.
